Workshops/Leaders

Ok, so, tell me : What workshops do you want to do?

Basically, these are the ideas I'd love to turn into a workshop :

- Dance class (Bellydance, Lyrical, HipHop)
- Modelling class (How to sashay on a runway, how to pose in front of a camera, how to edit photos)
- The Art of Excess (How to get rid of other people's opinion and create extravagant outfits)
- Make-up/Hairstyling class


Maybe I'll think of more, but right now that's about it.

I have done dancing - tap, but hey ! - but I definitely have a sense of rhythm, and pick up dance steps easily so that'd be no problem ! I have also done a few fitness classes, step and stuff like that, so that could be fun to add in there.

I think the modelling class is a great idea - love it !!

I tend to have quite an extravagant style and so The art of Excess is right down my street. It would be a lot more interesting than just your everyday fashion styles, and it will get the kids creative juices flowing =P

I have recently made myself a load of flower crowns - cos spring is finally here - and I've had loads of people compliment me on them, and seen as though they are dead easy to make, I was thinking of maybe doing them with the kids ! (Do we know if there are gonna be any guys ? Hey you never know !!)

I'm thinking we should also maybe go more retro style than modern ? I know teaching the history of fashion can be pretty boring, but with arts and crafts activities, actually making vintage style clothes could make it a lot more fun and interesting. Plus, seen as though we are gonna visit the fashion and textile museum in London (I think !), which displays fashion through the ages, they can get inspiration from what they see.

So, yeah there we go ! I'll keep posting ideas as I come up with them ! I'm loving all the ideas for now !! =D

I love your idea of flower crowns, could get inspiration from McQueen and his extravagant headpieces (I know, he's kinda like God for me).

With your Fashion History workshop, the link with the museum is done, so it's fantastic. And hey, we could teach them the secrets of Victorian corsets

I think we only have girls on English Fashion, 18 of them if I'm correct.

Okay, how am I ever gonna get any revision done for my exams in a couple of weeks now !?! =P
Haha, I am way too excited about this trip that I am currently wanting to try out loads of DIY fashion bits and bobs ! My apartment is now full of materials and paints, and buttons and all sorts of stuff, and my hair and make-up must have changed about 4 times in the past couple of hours !! ^^
I'll get back to you guys with the end results on stuff so you can tell me what you think =)



EDIT : I was also thinking of doing a "drawing" class, so they can design the wackiest outfits on pre-drawn models.

Great! All these ideas are good!

And what about steampunk? Do you like it?
I think I'll bring some of my steampunk outfits.


And yes, Felix is right, we have 18 girls on this camp.

I love steampunk!! I'll bring my gothic outfits, now that you're reminding me of their existence ^^

I could also do a embroidery class, by the way.

I was thinking we could also try to link fashion and music. When you look at Madona or Lady gaga they both really created a new look and a new fashion style through their music. And even if you look at the Beatles or the Who or all of thoses british "old" bands their music and their fashion style were just so massive and new at that time!

I agree with the idea of the extravagant style and the art of excess you are proposing! It is so british!

We could try to link the english fashion with the bitish film industry too. British movies are always the best about costumes! Harry Potter, Downtown Abbey or Pride and Prejudice characters always have amaizing costumes!

The drawing class is also a really nice idea. The girls will have an opportunity to show how creative they are and they'll be able to let go their imagination.

We should think about some shows too where they will present their outfits and show what they've learned in dance and modelling class.

So many things to do, this is so great!
